Photography and Filmmaking

Photography is essential to filmmaking. It is important to see history with pictures. In order to have a film you would need to take a series of pictures to have a moving image. Meaning you need exposure, the shutter, and an aperture.

Cinema Through the Decades

I've learned a lot about things of cinema history. I loved learning about people who have made invention after invention after invention! I learning about different motion picture devices was very amazing. It wasn't too hard finding information on my decade. It was the writing that was the boring parts.

The History of Film

Early artists of the world made those cave paintings to preserve some of their history. These artists used the sunlight to their advantage and painted their paintings where the light came in, in order for them to be able to see what was happening. They used light and color with certain images as a story telling technique in order to captivate the feel of what is going on in the picture. If there is light in the whole cave then you mess up the staging of the art piece.

History Of Film

I have the 70s for my History of Film project. I've learned that the horror/space genre in the 70s has really impacted people. I'd like to see some 70s horror films to see what they are like. I think learning about that aspect of film would be fun.

Smashing Pumpkins: Tonight Tonight

This music video I think is about a couple who is traveling together and wants to stay that way forever. I think They used the images because they wanted to portray a couple in a fantasy world. I think they are trying to emulate cartoons.

Life Without Movies

Movies Would be great to not have so that people would be able to get out of the house and interact with other people. The bad the about not having movies would be that you wouldn't be able to see things in a different perspective because you don't have news or movies around. Cinema in our culture has made it easier to tell stories and to be aware of certain things going on that you might not have known about if you hadn't watched the movie. The bad things about it is that People may take some things on the big screen seriously or make presumptions about people or things that may not be true. For example in old 60s and 50s shows they would portray indigenous Africans and Native Americans as savages.

Your Final Chase

I am very happy with our chase scene. We didn't so quite what we planned in Pre Production but we accomplished a very nice chase scene. We realized near the end of class that we weren't able to do the chase we wanted.

Elements of a Chase

Things that were exciting for my film were, the green screen. I can’t wait to start editing. I was so happy that we were able to try and Incorporate some suspense into our film. All we have to do is edit and that should be all.

Chase Film : Production

We are still on production for our chase film. We plan to get production finished and do some of our post production. This project has been kind of hard but I think we can deal with the space suits and other props that we have. One thing that has been really irritating was having two students that weren’t even part of our production, interrupting us and telling my actors and our director what to do or give suggestions without us asking them. I asked them to leave like 5 times but they didn’t want to leave. But since we will be in the studio today then I think we will be fine.

writings on the wall music video

I noticed a lot of handheld movements in the video. It was all one shot do there weren’t any cuts in this video so it was rolling the whole time. If there wasn’t any movement from the camera then the film would look different depending on how they choreographed it. I believe the filmmakers vision was to make the viewer feel like they are being moved rather thatn the film moving, like they are inside of the film.

Interstellar in IMAX

I’ve only seen one IMAX film in my life. It was the Hubble telescope movie. I forgot like most of it . I do remember liking it a lot. You feel like you are actually INSIDE of the movie for real. Its better than 3D! It really is . I’ve always hated the Idea of a 3D movie, but IMAX has always made that feel like inside of a movie much better than a 3D film has ever done for me.

Movement in your Chase film

My partner and I plan to use Pretty much all of the camera movements… Except for a jib, because those are heavy. We have a more suspenseful movie, so we plan to use as many of the camera techniques as possible.

Chase Scene Pitch

My boy Anthony made an Idea of a space scene. It will be great because in it we plan to have the whole chase inside of the space shuttle. I will enjoy making this film with Anthony and Justin. Anthony has it all figured out.

Difference between dolly and trucking shot and zoom

The zoom is supposed to bring that image towards you. That can make the audience feel like something may happen to the character. A dolly towards the character in the same scene can make the audience feel like the character may feel or just to show how the character is feeling. Trucking while the character is moving can help the audience see the character going from A to B and to see how the character may feel while they are going from A to B.

Camera Movements

Movements with a dolly and a jib Can do a variety of things to your audience.

They can be used to make your shot feel intense or scary or sarene. I would love to watch like, ALL of the matrix movies and see how the director elicits some emotion from the audience.

Camera Movement II

Camera Movement is an amazing way to make sure you can really understand what the director was trying to say. Movements can help to add suspense to what’s happening on and even off camera and help show the mood or tone of that scene and to help convey what the character is feeling.
